Beverly J. Wells, 78, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on August 27, 1940 in Wheat Ridge, CO to the late Elno and Ada (Crosby) Davis. She graduated from Wheat Ridge High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Salem College in WV.

While in WV, she met her future husband, James H. Wells, II, and married him on August 24, 1962. Beverly worked for Sandusky City Schools for 26 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was an active member.

She loved to play cards and crochet. She always had a smile on her face, and loved spending time with her friends and family the most. Beverly is survived by her children, James H. (Gail) Wells, III, of Monroeville, and Kimberly (Todd) Schwanger, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Taylor Schwanger, Annie, Kate, and Chris Wells, and Spencer Hackett; sister, Myrna (Gary) Cox, of CA; brother, Gary (Lori) Davis, of CO; sister-in-law, Sandy (Ed) Barker, of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1997; and sister, Katherine Spreadborough. Friends may call on Sunday, November 18 from 3-5 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. , Sandusky.

Per her wishes, cremation will take place, and a memorial service will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave. , Sandusky. Pastor Robb Fowler will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in Venice Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Beverly’s name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.
