Obituary of Billie Smith Billie Rose Morris Smith, age 85, of Troy died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mrs. Smith was born November 16, 1933 in Troy, NC the daughter of the late Fred Hoyt Morris and the late Racie E. Harris Morris. She was employed by Newsom’s Jewelers as a Bookkeeper for over 45 years.

Billie Rose taught children’s Sunday School at First Wesleyan Church for many years. She was a Christian example to her family and to all she met. Billie Rose always enjoyed her daily 2 mile walk through town.

She loved Christian and Southern Gospel Music, gardening, and mowing her lawn. Billie Rose was a loving, wonderful wife and mother and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by one son: Gary Smith and wife Jane of Troy, NC; one daughter: Karen Haywood and husband Joey of Asheboro, NC; four grandchildren: Greg Smith and wife Katie of Taylorsville, NC, Jenna Smith of Troy, NC, Clay Haywood and wife Kendi of Hampstead, NC, and Caleb Haywood of Rural Hall, NC; .

two brothers: Jack Morris and wife Louise of Troy, NC and Randy Morris and wife Lois of Troy, NC; two great grandsons: Joe Haywood of Hampstead, NC and Jackson Smith of Taylorsville, NC; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Smith. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11 AM at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Highway 134 North, Troy with Dr. Edward Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in First Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Troy, NC. The family wishes to express their appreciation to her caregivers at Randolph Cancer Center and Hospice of Randolph.
