Bo Arne Rønne-Lotz October 11, 1939 – January 03, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Bo Arne Rønne-Lotz was born October 11, 1939 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Camilla Oehrens Rønne-Lotz and Arne Torben Rønne-Lotz. His beloved wife of 30 years is Mary Ann Carruthers Rønne-Lotz. Bo and Mary Ann met in Cuero in 1955, when they were young students.
They were married May 20, 1988 in Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, Italy, and she was the love of his life. He is survived by his step-children Patricia Thamm and her husband, Michael of Austin; Michael Warzecha and his wife Cynthia of Cuero, and Andrea Warzecha Cordell of Little Rock, Arkansas. Also twelve grandchildren: Jennifer, Geoffrey, Colin, Ruby, Clara, Olivia and Vincent Cordell; Sarah and great-granddaughter Sophia Lopez, and Natalie Childs, Madalynn, Russell, and Keegan Thamm and great-grandson Charlie Childs.
Also, his brother-in-law John C. C. Hamilton and wife Cynthia Hamilton, and niece, Alexandra Hamilton of Cuero and nephews Christian and Kasper Rønne-Lotz of Denmark. Alissa Kathleen, his beloved step-daughter, and his brother, Michael Falck Rønne-Lotz of Græsted, Denmark, preceded him in death. Bo spent one year in Cuero, Texas as a teenager in 1955-1956, where he studied the English language.
During that year he was the guest of his parents’ friends, Harold and Dollie Nielsen, and also J.D. and Merle Bramlette. Upon returning to Denmark, Bo became an apprentice for three years at L. Paulsen & Company, a global importer/exporter of food products. In addition, he also attended, and later graduated from the College of Købmandsskolen, with a business degree.
In 1960, Bo became a member of the prestigious Danish Den Kongelige Livgarde (the Royal Guard), where he served as a guard for the Danish King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid and their family. Upon completion of his service in the Danish Royal Guard, Bo was a student in Salzburg, Austria, where he studied the German language at the University of Salzburg. Following his time in Salzburg, he then graduated as a Danish federal authorized food broker in Copenhagen.
Upon graduation, he was again employed by L. Paulsen & Company, which he purchased in 1974, and maintained through 1992. Bo and Mary Ann established their home in Cuero following Alissa’s death in 1989, and later he conducted brokerage accounts in Hamburg, Germany, during which time he and Mary Ann lived in Hamburg. Prior to retirement in 2011, Bo was successful in marketing for sixteen years at Broken Arrow Ranch in Ingram, Texas.
Bo was a devout Catholic and faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was invested in The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, the highest honor bestowed upon a layperson in the Catholic Church, where he held the title of Knight Grand Cross. Bo and Mary Ann were honored to have had an audience with Pope John Paul II during a visit to the Vatican.
Bo and Mary Ann traveled extensively throughout most of the Continental United States, and also Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, Canada, Mexico and Israel. He also frequently traveled to most of the European countries for pleasure, and for business. Bo and Mary Ann made their home in San Antonio for 8 years, where they enjoyed the company of their family and friends.
He became a naturalized American citizen in 2012. Bo was an accomplished chef, and enjoyed preparing delectable meals for Mary Ann, their family and friends. He was known for his love and devotion to Mary Ann, and for his love of family, his kindness, gentleness, integrity, compassion, honesty and generosity.
Bo will be remembered for his storytelling, imagination and humor, which were a constant of pleasure especially for his grandchildren when they were young. He will truly be missed by many, and our world is a much sadder place without him. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, including a Rosary at 6:30 PM.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM by Fr. Jacob Mendoza at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero beside loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Hansen, Jay Bramlette III, Chris Buesing, Michael Thamm, Russell Thamm, Geoffrey Cordell, Colin Cordell, and Michael Warzecha.
