Obituary for Bob L. Cathey Bob L. Cathey, 87, of Muskogee, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. He was born July 20, 1931, the youngest of three children, to Clarence and Alma Cathey, in the family home, at Elm Grove.

Bob graduated from Checotah High School with the class of 1949. After graduation, he enlisted in The US Air Force and was stationed in Germany. While on leave, he married the love of his life, Bobbie Ruth Martin, on June 07, 1952; a marriage that lasted 55 years until her passing.

In 1957, they moved to Muskogee and planted their lives at Eastern Heights Baptist Church, where he was baptized and remained a faithful Christian for over 60 years serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. After receiving his degree from OSU Tech in heating and air in 1957, he founded Cathey Air Conditioning; serving Muskogee and the surrounding area until 1995, when it was sold. In 2008, Bob was reunited with longtime friend, Shirley Mae Wade, and was blessed to find love again.

They were married July 12, 2008. They shared over 10 years of joy and happiness together, traveling and spending time with family and close friends. Bob was preceded in death by Bobbie and daughter Cola Ann Cathey, parents, C.D. and Alma Cathey, and brother, Gale Cathey.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Shirley, daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Darrell Yates, Shirley’s daughters and son-in-laws, Sandy and Rev. Tom Vann, and Pam and Terry Miller. Pap-Paw will be missed by Austin and Jessica Yates, their girls, Rilynn, Kynnli, and Aubrie, Zach Yates, and Jordan Yates.

Also surviving are sister, Galene Dunham, brother and sister in law, Rick and Gaila Martin, nieces, Sally and Don Heighton and Michaela, Betsy Dunham, Andrea and Johnny Holley, Aven and Wes. Johna and Randy Rains,and Meagan French. Nephews, Brenden, Trenten, and Landren Martin, James and Victoria Long, Matt French, and Jeremiah Freeman, Larry Cathey, Jerry Cathey, and Gary Cathey.

The Family will receive friends, 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Heights Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at 10:00 am at Eastern Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Darren Wallace and Rev. Bobby Smith, officiating.

Interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Checotah, OK with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Darrell Yates, Austin Yates, Zach Yates, Rick Martin, Rev. Tom Vann, and Terry Miller.
