Obituary for Bobbie Quillen (Summey) Bobbie J. (Summey) Quillen – Kingsport, TN Bobbie Jo (Summey) Quillen, Kingsport, TN and formerly of Fort Blackmore, VA went to her Eternal Home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Bobbie was born in Scott County, VA on December 26, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Tempa Eva (Dockery) Summey.
She was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church and loved to praise the Lord. Bobbie sang in many gospel groups beginning at a very young age with her family and friends, with a standing Sunday morning spot on WGOC radio in Gate City, VA. She worked as a nurse and secretary for the Children’s Clinic in Kingsport, TN.
She loved working with children and especially for Dr. Kent Blazier until her retirement after 23 years. As part owner, Bobbie and her husband, Paul started SuperVac Klean Rite Company in 1979 where she was the secretary until her second retirement in 2013. A proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Bobbie was very compassionate and could not allow anyone in her family, or her friends or community to be in need.
She will be truly missed. In addition to her parents, her sister, Lois (Summey) Rhoten; brothers, Gene, Jack, and Paul Summey; a sister-in-law; and several brothers-in-law preceded her in death. Surviving is her husband, Paul James Quillen; daughter, Deborah Quillen; son, Terry Quillen and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Amber Nicole Quillen, Brittney LeeAnn (Quillen) Marsh and husband, Aaron, and Aaron Morelock Quillen; great grandchildren, twins, Abel Douglas Marsh and Boone Lynn Marsh; sister, Mary (Summey) Lane; brother, Mack Summey and wife, Janice; along with several nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Paul and Bobbie Quillen. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lawrence Wolfe and Deacon Larry Calhoun officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
