Brenda Patrice Sorrels Brenda Patrice Sorrels of Erie, Colorado died at home on February 27, 2018. She was born in Inglewood, California on August 16, 1970. She was preceded in death by her mother Ana Mae Sorrels and her niece Juliann Patrice Sorrels.

She is survived by her sister Pam Soren of Aurora, Colorado. Brenda also considered her close friends to be family, especially including Stacey Micheal and her children Alicia, Kristin, and Eric; known to many as Titi’s nieces and nephew. Brenda served the Broomfield community as a member of the Broomfield Police Department for 18 years.

She began her career as a Community Service Officer in 2000. In September of 2001 Brenda moved to a position as a Detention Officer. Four years later Brenda was sworn in as a Patrol Officer where she remained for 13 years.

As an officer, Brenda effortlessly connected to any troubled teen. She would reach out to any stranger that was struggling with life. The members of the Broomfield Police Department quickly became a family born not from a blood line, instead bonded by the thin blue line.

In 2016 in addition to working full time, Brenda completed her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Colorado State University. Over the course of her time at CSU she became a huge Rams fan! Even greater than her love for CSU, was her love of Disney’s Mickey Mouse.

She shared her love of Disney with everyone she knew and a special few were lucky enough to go to Disney World with her. On days off Brenda was always donning a Disney character shirt, hoodie, or shoes. Brenda had a huge heart.

She considered her friends to be her family. She loved and cared for her own mother Ana Mae, her friends’ mothers, her friends’ children, and she always tried pay for dinner. Her generosity to her friends was only matched by her love for dogs.

Her first dog, Murphy, was the love of her life. She trained him and Maggie as puppies. She opened her heart to Farley and her dog Stanley.

She also adopted her mom’s dog, Misty, as well as Abigail and Teah. Brenda will be remembered for her ability to push boundaries, doing everything on her terms, and the ability to make everyone cringe and laugh all at the same time.
