Brent’s Obituary Brent LeGrand Chandler, 73, of Shelley, Idaho passed away Thursday, February 6, 2019 at his home. Brent was born January 12, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Franklin LeGrand Chandler and Ileene Leola Hand. Brent graduated from Bountiful High School and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State College.

He served in the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged. In 1965 he married Christeen King, who later died July 4, 1968. Married Diane Manning in 1970, they later divorced.

On April 10, 1992 he married Shawna Holland Benson and they were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple, June 18, 1993. Brent retired in December 2005 after a 30 year career in law enforcement. He served in various capacities as a police officer, chief of police, security for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the last 15 years as law enforcement coordinator for Utah State Parks.

He also enjoyed his time as a realtor in Utah and Idaho. Brent was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various positions including as executive secretary, bishopric counselor, on the High Council, and most recently as Sunday School president.

He and Shawna served as senior missionaries in the Washington Yakima Mission. Brent enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. His favorite place to be was on a mountain stream fly-fishing.

He also enjoyed being a firearms instructor. Brent is survived by his wife, Shawna Chandler; his children, Shane Chandler (Angela), Brent Chandler Jr. (Sherrie), Stephanie Maynard (Jim), Robin Reynolds, Mark Benson (Merilee), Melissa Thomson (Derek), Tim Benson (Stacey), Kim Benson and Karianne Timmins (Ben) and 20 grand children. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeralie Wirthlin, Linda Chandler, and Ileene McQueary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Christeen, and brother-in-law Richard Wirthlin. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Shelley 2nd Ward, 325 East Locust in Shelley. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Centerville City Cemetery, 650 E 400 S Centerville, UT. Condolences may be shared at: www. hawkerfuneralhome.com.
