Illa’s Obituary Obituary Illa Marshall, 80 Illa L. Hansen Marshall, 80, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Morningstar Assisted Living Facility surrounded by her family. Illa was born January 12, 1939 in Teton, Idaho to Leslie Levere Hansen and Luella Thirza Bird. She was the seventh of eight children in her family.
She attended school in Teton and loved learning and her friends. She later in life decided to attend college when her children started elementary school and graduated with her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Idaho State University in 1985. On November 27, 1959 she married Doyle G. Marshall in Teton, Idaho.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in August of 2000. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2015. In the early years of their marriage she held various jobs while Doyle went to electrician school and then continued to work until becoming a mother in 1969.
At this time her most treasured title and job was mother and homemaker. Travis D. Marshall joined the family in July of 1969 and a daughter, Amber Marshall Baker in the fall of 1972. With the family now complete, Illa enjoyed being a mother and spending time raising her children.
They enjoyed winters snowmobiling in Island Park and summers camping with family and friends. Illa was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her favorite callings were in the Primary with the children. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and love for her Heavenly Father.
Upon her children entering elementary school full time is when Illa decided to go to college. After working very hard and getting her degree in Elementary Education she taught 2nd grade at Moreland Elementary for 17 years. This became one of the greatest joys in her life.
For years many of her former students would visit her and thank her for the influence she had in their lives. She proudly would tell people even in her later years that she was a retired school teacher. Illa is survived by her son, Travis Marshall of Pocatello; daughter, Amber (Robin) Baker of Blackfoot; six grandchildren, Cameron (Eponine) Baker, Jason Baker, Elder Derek Baker-CDNM, Anthony Marshall, Ashley Marshall and Kaitlyn Marshall; one great grandchild, LaCielle Eldridge; and two brothers, Darwin (Karen) Hansen of Parker, ID and Val (Sevola) Hansen of St. Anthony, ID.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Marshall; her parents; two brothers, Melvin Hansen, Leonarde Hansen; and three sisters, Nila Hansen Marvin, Elda Hansen Blackburn, and Betty Hansen Sizer. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Morningstar for their friendship to Illa these past two and a half years, and to the staff of OneSource Home Health and Brio Hospice for their loving care to our beloved mother as she needed more help. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Blackfoot LDS Stake Center, 1650 Highland Drive. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
