Brian’s Obituary Brian Michael Horne, 26, of Salinas, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born on September 1, 1992 in Anaheim, California. While attending Salinas High School from 2007 to 2011, Brian made countless friends (despite his terrible skater-boy haircut), secured his position as class clown/funniest person of all time, and was elected to Homecoming Court during his senior year.

Post-graduation, Brian attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA prior to enlisting in the United States Navy in 2012. Brilliant, driven, and remarkably hard-working, Brian served as a Surgical Technician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland during his active military duty. As a natural-born leader, Brian was deeply committed to the Monterey County, Santa Clara County, and Alameda County young people’s AA communities.

He will be remembered by many as an angel of the AA program—a bright, smiling spirit who stood perpetually ready to share his experience, strength, and hope with others who were struggling. His impact will forever be felt by more friends than could possibly be named. Brian is preceded in his passing by his father, Terence “Terry” Robert Horne.

Brian is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathleen Tonti-Horne and Dennis Strenfel; his siblings, Clare Horne, Anthony Horne, Sarah Horne, Alex Strenfel, and Zach Strenfel; his maternal grandparents, Elisabeth and Mike Tonti; his paternal grandmother, Mary Horne; his aunts, Kristy Tonti, Kosa Ely, and Nicole Tonti; his uncles, Jon Tonti, Timothy Horne, Sam Baron, and Bada Hari Ely; and his cousins, Elizabeth Tonti, Mindy Tonti, Emily Tonti, Charles Ely, Gaura Ely, Tallulah Baron, and Rosalie Baron. Brian adored and was adored by his family with an everlasting love that will live on in the memories of his infectious laugh, his razor-sharp wit, and his warm bear hugs. To say that he will be missed is not nearly enough.

The pain that his family bears now in losing their Brian too soon is matched only by the gratitude they will feel forever for having known twenty-six years of the radiant joy that is Brian Horne. Brian’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Monterey Center for Spiritual Living, 400 West Franklin Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
