RH’s Obituary Rh Herring was born in Newnan, Georgia, he lived there with his Parents and 13 brothers and sisters. He shared his many memories of his family as well as with his friends. He joined the military in 1955.

After 26 years, he retired in 1982 at the rank of First Sgt-E-8. He worked for the then Ft Ord fire dept. before starting his career with the Monterey County Probation Department.

He worked at the Juvenile Hall and the Youth Center. He also worked the Electronic Montering and Home Supervision Programs. RH shared his experiences and interactions with varies Staff.

He spoke of a foot race with one staff on the back yard of JH, he enjoyed the wit and humor and impressions of another and one staff who was able to supervise a group of kids while working undercover (he would read his newspaper, or his novel). He retired in 2000. He did what he loved to do, go to the Casinos!

We made several trips to Vegas, Reno, Table Mountain and Chukchansi. RH was a good and generous man. He loved his wife with all his heart and soul.

He will be truly missed. Visitation will be held 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901 Graveside will be held 11:00am on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA 93901 Burial will follow with Military Honors.
