Scotty’s Obituary Scotty J. Houston 77 years old from Salinas, Ca. passed away surrounded by family on January 8, 2019. Scotty was born on January 20, 1941 to Nova and Elva (Gibson) Houston of Waldren, Arkansas.
In 1963 Scotty joined the Army and became a paratrooper for two years. Through mutual friends Scotty and Joann met in 1968 and married on October 5, 1968. Settling in Salinas in 1972 while he worked at Trans fresh.
He worked there for 12 years as a supervisor and then purchased a diesel truck where he hauled produce up and down California for 4 years. In 1985 he became a truck broker for Jack Pardue and worked there for 3 years. He then started working for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company where he worked until he retired in 2008.
Scotty loved to stay busy so he still worked part time as a tax preparer for H&R Block. He also worked the 2010 Census part time where he developed friendships with the security guards at the Social Security Administration building. After inquiring how he could become a security guard he went through the required training and became a guard with Paragon Private Security and then switched to Triple Canopy Private Security.
Scotty was a very giving person and he volunteered tirelessly to relay for Life every year. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joann F. Houston of Salinas, Ca. Children Christopher Houston of Merced, Ca.
