Buster Wilburn August 16, 1937 – January 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Buster Franklin Wilburn, age 81 of Goldsby, OK passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Monday, January 21, 2019. Buster was born August 16, 1937 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He was the middle son born to Sam Wilburn and Lucille Emma (Eggleston) Wilburn.
Buster grew up in Norman, attended Norman schools and graduated from Norman High School with the class of 1956. While in high school, Buster ran track and was an All-State Quarterback for Norman High. After high school Buster was a fullback and punter on the freshman O. U. Football team for the 1957 season.
He graduated from O.U. with a degree in accounting in 1962. While a student at O.U. he also was in the ROTC program. After graduating he served two years in the Army Reserves at Ft.
Sill. On July 2, 1965, Buster married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Corbin. They were married in Norman and together raised two children, John and Jill.
They made Norman their home for the next 11 years before moving to Goldsby in 1976. Buster continued his education by attending O.U. Law School, getting his Doctorate of Law in 1967. After becoming a Lawyer, he worked as a mortgage broker in OKC for two years before starting his own business in 1972, called Wilburn Mortgage and Investment Company.
Several of his developments were the building of Wilburn Plaza in Norman and developing Martingale Estates in Goldsby. Throughout his life, Buster was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. He loved being in the outdoors and working with his hands.
He never met a stranger and his mind was always thinking of ways to build or develop something new. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Sam and Lucille Wilburn.
Grandson, Heath Morris. He is survived by: Wife of 53 years, Carolyn Wilburn of the home in Goldsby. One son, John Wilburn and wife Robyn of Ada, One daughter, Jill Weber and husband Billy of Goldsby, Two brothers, Sam M. Wilburn and wife Kathryn of Bradenton, FL.
Dick F. Wilburn of Norman, Sister-in-law, Qwen Wilburn of Praque, OK. Five grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Sean, A.J. and Ethan. Also several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Goldsby Baptist Church, Goldsby, OK. Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Resthaven Memory Gardens in OKC. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Purcell, OK.
