Joseph Conrad Thompson, III. , known as Butch Thompson, Jr. passed away Wednesday March 20, 2019. Butch was born to Marsha and Butch Thompson, Sr. on April 22, 1968.

Butch was raised in Marietta, GA, attended Marietta High School, Class of 1986, and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. After graduation, Butch married Terri Seiber of Tifton, GA and they had two children Hannah Katlynn (23), and Miranda Nicole (20). Butch worked in the family construction firm, Butch Thompson Enterprises, Inc. with his father Butch Sr. and his brother Jud.

Butch was known as a man with a passion for helping others. He never withheld his time or res from those in need. Butch was always the first to arrive when a friend lost a loved one and the last to leave in any crisis.

Butch was a real cowboy and carried that mantle unabashedly. He was a true protector of life. He spent many years on the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol and often shared his love of horses with special needs children at his ranch in West Cobb.

Butch is survived by his two daughters, Hannah and Miranda Thompson; parents, Marsha and Butch Thompson, Sr.; sister, Miki Thompson; nephews, Jordan, Chandler, Connor and Jennings Harrelson; brother, Jud and sister-in-law Carrie Thompson; nieces and nephews, Mac, Grace, Tucker, Cooper, and Ella Thompson. Visitation will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Historic Marietta Chapel, Friday March 22, 2019, from 4:00pm- 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Marietta, 2:00pm Saturday March 23, 2019.
