Carl “Burns” Wren, 79, of St. Marys and formerly of Shelby County passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He was born in Bloomfield Twp. , OH on February 9, 1939 to the late Orville and Mary (Burkett) Wren.

On November 16, 1985 he married Mary Lou (Deubner) and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2016. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wren and a step-son, David Hatfield. He is survived by two sons, Jeff (Lisa) Wren of Perry, OH and Brad (Bev) Wren of Jackson Center, four step children; Shelley (Roy) Moore, Marla Presser, Cindy (John) Kalivoda, Debora Hatfield, fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, a brother, Gerald Wren and special friends, Charlotte Ricard and Don Rowe.

Burns graduated from Lewistown School and later Tri-State University. He worked for 40 years for EMI Corporation, retiring in 2005 as a partner where he held the position of General Manager and Vice President. He was a member of the Wayne Street UMC in St. Marys.

He was a founding member of the Jackson Center Growth Association and served on Jackson Center Village Council. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Antioch Shriners, and the Sidney Area Emmaus Community. He also served on countless boards and committees through the years.

He loved traveling, woodworking, Cincinnati Reds baseball, boating, gardening, volunteering for just about anything and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Pastor Heth Corl will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Jackson Center United Methodist Church, 202 East Pike St, Jackson Center, OH 45334. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church and also on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
