Mineral Ridge – Carl DiLallo, 95 of Mineral Ridge, Ohio passed away on June 4, 2018 at is home with loving family by his side. Carl was born in Youngstown, Ohio and spent his childhood years on Thorn Hill Road before moving to Alameda Avenue with his parents, four sisters and three bothers. Growing up with immigrant parents, Carl was strongly rooted in his Italian Heritage.

He enjoyed gardening, making wine, and canning tomatoes and peaches (his favorite). On occasion he would visit relatives who remained in Italy and would bring back wonderful stories of the family living in the old country and of the family history and lineage dating back hundreds of years. His many nieces and nephews have fond memories of Carl telling these stories while rocking on the Alameda Avenue porch swing.

In 2000, Carl and his family moved from Alameda Avenue after nearly 55 years. Carl worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and retired as a bookkeeper from Columbia Iron and Metal after more than 40 years. He was an Army Veteran who served stateside during World War II.

Carl was a quiet, gentle soul who loved and cared for his family. He was a “Big Brother” to all and a steward to his loved ones. He was always there to lend a hand to someone in need of having a tax return prepared.

Something he said kept him busy before gardening season. Carl leaves behind his loving sisters, Florence DiLallo, Amelia DiLallo, and Joann Zarlenga; loving brothers Frank and Dominic (Kathy) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence (Ritucci), brother Joseph and sister Rachael Williams.

The family would like to thank MVI Hospice for their care and support. Private services have been arranged for Carl by Schiavone Funeral Home, 1842 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, Ohio. Carl will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
