Carl S. Davis “Pa E” as he was called by his family, went to be with our Lord early morning on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Pa E was a White County resident his whole life and raised a family in which he was very proud of, with his wife, Kathy. All while working at Thomas for 33 years, making some of his closest friends and fondest memories.
He was a man who upon first sight to many looked like a tough as nails kind of person, turned out to be one of the most kind, understanding, honest and humble people you’d ever meet. He will always be remembered by his personality; He was always cutting up and sharing stories. He could’ve taught history with all the things that he knew.
He surely helped with his fair share of school projects between his kids and granddaughter. We always said that you could tell when Pa E really cares for you because you’d get a nickname – Anywhere from “girlfriend” as he called his daughter in law of 20 years, to “Wee Will” and “Turtle” as he called his great grandsons. Everyone knew if you had a question on how to do something, from wiring a light switch, fixing a car, or anything in between, call Pa E. If you couldn’t remember who sang a song or had a few words from one stuck in your head, the answer was just a call away with Pa E. He taught us all many life lessons and helped through life’s toughest times even to his last breath.
He showed us how to trust in and love God, and how to pray from the heart. He taught us the importance of working hard and doing your best. To always be early and that the only things that really matter are God, family, and to slow down and enjoy what the good Lord blesses us with until the day we are standing before him in our brand new bodies and looking out on the beautiful streets of gold.
No more pain, no more sorrow, just perfect peace. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank L. Davis. Carl is survived by, His mother, Bobbie Jean Davis; Mother in-law, Faye Sapp; Wife of 48 years, Kathy Sapp Davis; Daughter, Clarissa Kirby (Johnny); Son, Lanny Davis (Levona); Granddaughter, Miranda Randolph (Tristin); Two great-grandsons, Kolten and Axelson; along with many family members and friends.
