Carol’s Obituary Carol Joanne Laible, age 85 of Rock City, IL, formerly of Lexington, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL. She was born on December 24, 1932; the daughter of Albert and Thera (Wise) Goeke. Carol married Dr. Charles Laible, PhD on August 16, 1959.

Carol received her RN from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Illinois State University. She retired from Meadows Mennonite Nursing Retirement Community in Meadows, IL. She was also a volunteer EMT in Lexington for several years.

Carol was a member of the Dakota Community Church and the Manitowish Waters Community Church. For many years she was a member of the Illinois Home Extension and 4-H Leader. She enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially flower gardening.

She was an avid rock collector and spending time in the north woods of Wisconsin was her favorite past time. Carol loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Laible, PhD.

of Rock City; children, Jon Laible of Phoenix, AZ, Joel (Amy) Laible of Lexington, IL, Michela (John) Malcolm of Danvers, IL, and Robert (Denise) Laible-Seif of Fisher, IL; grandchildren, Donavan, Devin, Avery, & Aden Laible of Lexington, IL and Hanna Laible-Seif of Fisher, IL; brother, Ronald Goeke of Rock City, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Thera; and brother, Reginald Goeke. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Dakota Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Wisconsin Public Television. Condolences may be shared at www. walkermortuary.com.
