Obituary for Carolyn Slack Carolyn Slack, 86 of Anderson, passed away on December 18th 2018 at the Autumn Wood Assisted Living in Tipton, Indiana. She was born on June 5, 1932 in Marion, Indiana to the late Clarence and Francis (Polovina) DeShon. Carolyn graduated from Anderson High School class of 1950.

She was a dedicated employee of 30 years for Indiana Bell/AT & T. She worked as an operator in Anderson for many years and then she finished her career in Muncie before retiring in 1984. She was a 70-year member of Central Wesleyan Church in Anderson, where she served tirelessly as a Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Worker, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and in the Women’s Missionary Society. Carolyn loved serving the Lord and Central Wesleyan Church.

As a mother of three boys, Carolyn had no choice but to love sports. She was their biggest cheerleader and enjoyed watching them compete in whatever sport they were playing. Later in life she loved watching her grand kids play sports as well.

She also loved baseball and she went with her family to many Cincinnati Reds games over the years. Carolyn had a genuine zest for life. Even though she had a fear of flying, she took her first flight (ever), at the age of 81, to Cambodia to visit her son Doug, Lori and grand children who were serving on the mission field.

She loved spending time with her family and taking them on vacations to Florida and Gatlinburg. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking desserts, especially pies! Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her loving spouse, Orville Slack, whom she married September 5, 1953, sons and their spouses, Dennis (Esther) Slack, Darrell (Shelly) Slack, Douglas (Lori) Slack, eleven grand-children and nine great grand-children, sister-in-law, June DeShon. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, James DeShon of Pendleton. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 6:00-8:00 PM at Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, Indiana.

Services will be Friday, December 21, 2018, 11:00 AM at Central Wesleyan Church with her three sons officiating along with Jerry Alexander, Pastor Central Wesleyan Church. Burial will take place following at Anderson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can made to Anderson Central Wesleyan Church or the American Cancer Society.
