Carolyn Balsamo, 92, of Torrington, CT, passed away Sunday, March 3rd,with her beloved husband Frank of 67 years at her side at Regal Health Center. Carolyn was born in Bantam, CT on August 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Clara (Duvall) and Robert Winegar. She was a Torrington resident for most of her life but for a short time lived in Goshen and Harwinton where she attended one room school houses.

After graduation from Torrington High School and one year in business school, she worked several jobs including the American Red Cross during World War II. She retired from the Torrington Co. after 25 years. She was proud of her heritage that included ancestors that served in The American Revolution and Civil War.

She was a member of The Torrington Historical Society, Connecticut Society of Genealogy, and the Williamsburg Foundation Carolyn lived a remarkable life. She and her husband were history enthusiasts, animal rescuers, and were always willing to help anyone in need. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sister Shirley Miles and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers George, Thomas, William, Earl, and James Winegar. Services at Hillside Cemetery are private.
