Cecile Marie Callahan, 91, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Bristol, CT on March 18, 1927 to the late Emile and Ida Doucet. She lived most of her life in this area.

Cecile worked and loved helping the seniors at the Senior Center in Shelburne Falls for years, before that she worked in the Meat Department at Jumbos (currently Big Y). She also had a great love of baking and especially enjoyed treating family and friends to her culinary delights. She was formally a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in West Springfield.

She was the loving widow of John Callahan who passed away in 1990, beloved mother of Elizabeth Robert and her husband James of West Springfield, Margaret Szostkiewicz and her husband Tom of West Springfield, John Callahan and his companion Angel of Springfield, Robert Callahan of Florida, and the late Patricia Farrell. She also leaves behind her caring sister Lillian Kurtz of Chicopee. Cecile was a devoted grandmother of 16 and great grandmother of many.

Cecile also leaves several nieces and nephews. There will be a Funeral Home Service on Friday at 11 AM at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield followed by a burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 9-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the No One Dies Alone Program (NODA), payable to Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
