Richard “Dick” Larose, 80, of West Springfield, beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Kent) Larose (2011), passed away on September 13, 2018 at the Elaine Center in Hadley, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 11, 1938 in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Clarinda (Durand) Larose. Richard was a graduate of Holyoke Trade School and proudly served in the Army National Guard.

He was a master electrician, owning his own business for many years and later he went on to become Director of Engineering at Wesson Memorial Hospital, now Baystate Medical Center, retiring in 1994. Richard was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. He loved gardening, played the saxophone in a number of bands for many years and spent wonderful days on his boat “My Way” on the Connecticut shores.

Richard was a very loving and dedicated husband, father and “Papa” whose wonderful sense of humor has passed through the generations. Richard is survived by his children Kathy Pinkerman, former son-in-law Ted Pinkerman, Sr., Mary Beltrandi and her husband Joe, Rick Larose and his wife Brenda, Sheila Albano and her husband Patsy, his 7 cherished grandchildren, Teddy, Nikki, Vinnie, Gianna, Nick, Leo and Katie, and his loving brother Raymond Larose and his wife Jackie. Richard was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Victor.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Elaine Center for their compassion and care of their father as well as their personal caregiver Loucille Cortezzo. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 – 7pm at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. The funeral will be Monday at 9am at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church at 10am.

Burial will follow at the St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. For more details please go to www.
