Cornelius Gorman, 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Cornelius was born in New York City on June 6, 1927 to the late William and Ann (Hesslan) Gorman. Cornelius was a teacher and taught math and social studies at West Springfield Jr. High for many years.

He received his Master’s Degree from Westfield State University. He was a life-long communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. Cornelius was predeceased by his beloved wife Madonna Gorman (Riendeau), his brother William Gorman, and his beloved Dalmatian Bill.

He is survived by his children Cornelius Gorman Jr. of IL and Madonna Trotter of West Springfield. He was the cherished grandfather to George Stone of PA, Mark Stone of Springfield, Cornelius Gorman III and Thomas Gorman of IL and great grandfather to William Tomalla, Elliot Ventulett, Patrick Ventulett, and Autumn Stone. He will be dearly missed by many friends and students.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4th at 11:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street in West Springfield. A private burial will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cornelius’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
