Charles “Charlie” Mayfield, Jr. September 25, 1933 – January 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Charles “Charlie” Mayfield, age 85, who passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Mr. Mayfield was a native and lifelong resident of Grand Coteau.

He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where he served as an Usher. Charlie was employed with Boudreaux’s Wrecker Service for over forty years. Survivors include two brothers, Otis Mayfield of Houston, TX and Joseph Harold Mayfield (Floretta) of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters, Joyce Eaglin and Barbara Senegal both of Grand Coteau, LA; a special sister-in-law who was like a sister, Rita S. Pikes of Baton Rouge, LA; his Godchildren, Linda Barker, Joyce Eaglin and Stephanie Senegal; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Mayfield, Sr. and the former Leona Charles; two brothers, Lawrence Mayfield and Joseph Russell Mayfield; two brothers-in-law, Luke Eaglin, Jr. and Harold Senegal, Sr; and one niece, Penny Fleming. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.

The family of Charles “Charlie” Mayfield, Jr. would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness and generosity shown during the loss of their brother (uncle). A special thank you to all extended family, friends, and neighbors. They would especially like to thank the dedicated staff of Evangeline Oaks Guest House, Community Hospice Care, and AMG Specialty Hospital.

They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Amy Barlow and Kimberly Smith for their superb care giving, and Cathy Taylor, Margaret Brinkhaus and Theresa Cormier for their faithful religious and spiritual support over the years. May God bless each of you. Pallbearers will be Brian Barker, Darrell Barker, Damian Eaglin, Dr. Bruce Hines, Gregory Mayfield, Sr. and Harold Senegal, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Mayfield, Joseph Harold Mayfield, John Kenneth James, Ricky Williams, Darren Mayfield, Sr., David Mayfield, Sr., Michael Mayfield and Alexander Bagneris, III.
