Charles “Chot”‘s Obituary Charles “Chot” G. Smith, Sr., 89, of Bethlehem Twp. , passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Chot was born in Easton, PA, the son of George and Georgene (Steckel) Smith.

Chot was married to his high school sweetheart Joan M. Kelly, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage last August. Chot drove tractor trailer for 40 years. He enjoyed stock car racing and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Chot built HO model railroad layouts. He also enjoyed woodworking and built much of the furniture in his and Joan’s home, as well as pieces for his family. Chot lived in Wilson Borough most of his life and graduated from Wilson High School in 1948 where he was captain of the football team.

In addition to his wife, Chot is survived by a son Charles “Chot” G. Smith, Jr. and wife Kathy of Easton; daughters, Nancy J. Smith of New York City and Kim A. Smith and husband Laurence Jacobs of New York City; grandchildren Stacey L. Smith and partner Patrick Geraghty, Edward Kovacs and wife Janell Shelly, Jason Kovacs and wife Chrissy and Joseph Kovacs and wife Marla; great-grandchildren Jensen, Zakary, Ava, Maci, Kylie, Tyler, Lainey and Michaela; sister-in-law Jean A. Jandrositz and husband Walter; nieces Janice Galitzek and Janine Jandrositz. A calling hour will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp. ), followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am in the funeral home.

Interment will be held in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Bethlehem, PA. Memorial Contributions in Chot’s memory may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House at 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Online condolences may be offered at www.
