Charles Clarence Woody Jr , April 01, 1938 — December 09, 2018

Mr. Clarence Charles Woody, Jr., of Marion, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Mr. Woody was born in Marion to the late Clarence Woody, Sr. and Doris Keys Woody on April 1, 1938. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a young man and served faithfully for over 20 years, traveling extensively all over the world, and ultimately retiring as a Weather Equipment Technician.

Upon leaving the service, he worked for a few years for Old Fort Finishing while at the same time pursuing a degree as a Biomedical Technician from Lenoir Rhyne College. Mr. Woody then moved to Winston-Salem where he spent over 20 years working as a Med. Tech.

for Wake Forest Baptist Medical. After retirement he moved back to Marion where he lived out the remainder of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion.

Mr. Woody leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Opal Woody; three sons, Lee Woody and wife Michelle of Puyallup of Washington State, Robert Woody and wife Vicky of Farmington, NC, and John Woody of the home; and a beloved granddaughter, Samanatha Woody. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Alexander Hanks officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in McDowell Memorial Park. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
