Obituary for Charles J. “Jack” Davis 86, of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born September 11, 1931 in Glasgow, KY a son of the late Charles Edward and Margaret Jane Marcum Davis. Jack attended and was the fourth graduating class from Bellarmine University in 1957, where he served as class president.

He was an Army Veteran having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a Sr. Executive Vice President for Brown-Forman for over 40 years until his retirement in February 1997. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Charter member of Hunting Creek Country Club and Westchester Country Club, Rye, NY.

Jack’s passion for the horse racing industry was reflected by his involvement in raising, breeding and racing Thoroughbred horses. He was past president of the Thoroughbred Club of America, KTO and Charter Member of the Turf Club at Churchill Downs. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by siblings, William “Bill” Davis and Jane Schaftlein.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Lee Davis; son, Charles “Chuck” Davis (Cindy); grandchildren, Brittany Sue Johnson (Nicholas) and Charles R. “Robbie” Davis; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Sue Johnson; brother, Robert “Bobby” Davis; two sisters-in-law, Jonel Davis and Sally Elder and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July, 27 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, “in St. Matthews”.
