Charles James Guziak, age 68, of Henderson, MI passed away peacefully at his home, July 28, 2018 with his family by his side. Charles was born in Saginaw, MI on September 27, 1949, the son of James and Rita (Schimmoller) Guziak. He graduated from Chesaning High School.

Charles married his high school sweetheart, Joan (Strachota) on April 17, 1971. They have been blessed with 47 years together raising a family, working together on the farm, and enjoying the simple things in life. Charles started his career as a machinist, but his passion in life was continuing to build the family farm.

Charles was happiest when he was able to work on his farm and “tinker” in his workshop. He had a love of learning and teaching his kids and grandkids new things. His children knew him as a quiet man with a strong work ethic who always provided for his family.

He led by example and taught them how to put others before themselves. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage in Gaylord. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to various places.

Charles served with the National Guard, Chapin Telephone Company and several other committees. He was also a member of Saint Peter Parish. Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Joan of Henderson, MI; 4 children; Mark Guziak, Oakley, MI; Debbie (Michael) Wightman, Howell, MI; Daniel Guziak, Elsie, MI; Amy (Kenneth) Kochany, Bay City, MI, and 8 grandchildren; Levi, Kiaya, Nicholas, Cora, Benjamin, Madeline, Nolan, and Brooklynn; and two sisters; Marie (Todd) Pryor, Grand Rapids, MI and Joyce (Sandy) Russell, St. Petersburg, FL.

Charles is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and his long time, good friend, Mike Gross. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Peter Parish in Chesaning with Fr.

Bill Gruden officiating. Burial to follow in Ridge Road Cemetery. Visitation will be at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 – 10:30 a.m. before processing to the church for Mass.

A celebration of his life and time of sharing memories will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Saginaw County Fair or Cancer Research Institute. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
