BARKER, Keith W. (“Skitch”) – of Montrose, age 81, went to be with his Savior on Friday, July 27, 2018 at his residence. Keith was born June 23, 1937 in Des Moines, IA to the late Gordon and Elsie (Weston) Barker. He was a resident of Montrose since 1973.

He was united in marriage to Karen Yeager on August 29, 1959. He served in the US Army from February 1960 to June 1962. Mr. Barker was a teacher for Flint Public School District for over 28 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Montrose Baptist Church, Gideons and was a Lay Representative for Wycliffe Bible Translators. Keith enjoyed gardening, woodworking and being with family and friends. He also taught Sunday School his entire adult life.

Surviving are: wife, Karen; daughter, Kim (Dave) Wilson of Montrose; son, Keith (Bonnie) Barker of Babson Park, FL; grandchildren: Jordan (Elizabeth) Barker, Kyle Barker, Zack (Chelsea) Barker, Spencer Wilson, Izzy Barker and Lorna Pinell; great-grandchildren: Avry and Addilyn; brother, Gordon (Janet) Barker of Rogers, AR; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A brother, Larry Barker, also preceded him in death. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Montrose Baptist Church, 300 E. State Street in Montrose.

Greeting the family will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery with military funeral honors. Contributions in his memory may be made to Compelled by Christ or Montrose Baptist Church.
