Charles’ Obituary Obituary Charles L. Bastian, 86 Charles Louis Bastian of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, January 5th 2019 at his home in Blackfoot, Idaho. Charles was born April 17, 1932, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania to Stella Irene Zimmerman and Raymond Bastian. He was raised by his maternal grandparents.

He was a high school football star and went on to play football for the Air Force. He married Norma Jean LaBauve. They had two sons, Ricky James and Steve Louis.

They were later divorced. He moved to Boise and married Maria L. Rosello. They moved to Blackfoot where he worked as a police officer.

They had two sons, Edward and Anthony. They were later divorced. He met Beverly Jane Whitworth in 1967 and they were married October 5 of that year.

They were blessed with five children, Angela Louise (Alan) Copeland, Zachary Todd (deceased), Cody Lee, Camille Annette (Jeff) Shupe, and Raymond Charles Bastian. They were later sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Edward and Zachary Todd Bastian.

Chuck was a patriot and he loved serving in the Air Force. After injuring his shoulder playing football, he worked as a military police officer and a crew chief on the KC 135. He served in the reserves at Hill Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington and was able to retire.

Chuck lived in many places while in the Air Force including Louisiana, Alaska and Spain. While in Spain he played in a movie, The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw. He worked many part time jobs providing for his family including Western Auto, hauling potatoes, bringing cars back for Blackfoot Motors and as a sawmill employee.

One of Chuck’s job experiences was working as the under sheriff for Mike Shiosaki. Mike and Chuck became best friends and Chuck loyally supported him. In all that Chuck did, he was very outspoken.

One always knew where he stood. We will miss you Chuck and look forward to being together again. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center, 101 N 900 W in Blackfoot, under the direction of the Hawker Funeral Home.

The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Moreland Cemetery. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.
