Loraine’s Obituary Obituary Loraine Ellis, 97 Loraine Stander Ellis, 97, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away January 24, 2019 at The Willows Assisted Living Center. She was born October 19, 1921, in Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho, the daughter of Ralph Stander and Margaret Kraus Stander. She was the third of six children.

Loraine attended school grades 1-8 in the Wilson School House. Then attended Blackfoot High School and graduated from Moreland High School. She lived most of her life in the Riverside Thomas area except for a short time in California.

On April 2, 1941 Loraine married Vear R Ellis in the Salt Lake Temple. Eight children were born to this union. She worked side by side with Vear farming in the Riverside area.

They built several houses. In the early years of their marriage, Vear and Loraine built “The Ellis Market” in Riverside, later called “Scotties Market”. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and homemaker.

She was an accomplished seamstress making a lot of her children’s clothing including formals for her daughters and sports coats for her sons. She was very good at using any scraps for quilt blocks and made many quilts. She made beautiful quilts that she lovingly gave to her family.

She loved flowers and had many flower gardens around her yard. Her vegetable gardens would produce food for the family which she would preserve for later use. It was common to see her with Vear fishing anywhere in the area.

She also enjoyed reading. Loraine was active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions in the Women’s organizations of the church including Relief Society President and positions in Primary, Gleaners and Young Women’s, and Relief Society.

She was also a temple worker. For many years she catered weddings, working with other ladies in the area. Loraine is survived by her brother, Carvel (Rosalie) Stander of Oregon; son-in-law, Bob Aguilar of West Valley City, Utah; children, Peggy (Arben) Andersen of Gilbert, Arizona, Ron (Lynne) Ellis of Blackfoot, Idaho, Lonnie (Sue) Ellis of Yakima, Washington, Debora (Leonard) Lyman of South Jordan, Utah, Jan (Rod) DeGiulio, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Carlie (Brent) Thomas of Kaysville, Utah, TaRhea (Jeff) North of Herriman, Utah; 57 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her oldest daughter, Zeann Ellis Aguilar; brother, Alburn Rene Stander; sisters, Geraldine Stander Eccles Edwards, Florence Stander, and Ramona Bee Stander; grandson, Jeffrey Ron Ellis and granddaughter-in-law, Kayla Elizabeth Thomas. A funeral service will be held at the Riverside Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Riverside, Friday February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am. The family will meet with friends and family Thursday January 31, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave.

Blackfoot, Idaho and for one hour prior to the services at 10:00 am. The family wishes to express great appreciation to Willows and those caregivers who took such good care of her. We also appreciate the services of Encompass Hospice and their wonderful care of our mother.
