William’s Obituary Obituary William Fanning, 66 William Douglas Fanning, 66, of Pingree, Idaho passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Bingham Memorial Hospital. Bill was born on October 16, 1952 in Los Angeles, California to Albert Henry and Marion Edna Anton Fanning. As a child in a military family, Bill attended various schools in Tennessee, Virginia and Washington.

He graduated from Oak Harbor High School in Washington. He continued his education at Skagit Valley College. Later during his career in the military received his associates degree.

He joined the United States Air Force and served at Sheppard Air Force Base, where he taught dental technician classes. He married Susan Evans on July 12, 1974 in Burlington, Washington. They were later sealed in the Mesa Temple in 1982.

Bill joined the Air Force in 1972 and served his country for 20 years and retired as a Master Sargent. Upon discharge, he retired to Oak Harbor, Washington. He worked for the LDS church at Deseret Industries and the F.M. Group.

He moved to Pingree, Idaho in 2012, after living in various cities in western Washington to retire near all of his children and grandchildren. As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Bishop in Tacoma, Washington. He was a temple worker in the Seattle and Idaho Falls Temples.

He served in other various callings, including Scout Master and attended Woodbadge. He was also thoroughly engrossed in Genealogy. Bill loved to read, do family history and spend time with family.

Bill is survived by Susan Fanning, his wife of 44 years; his children, Julie Allison (Jacob) Miller of Blackfoot, Gillian Suzanne (Andrew C.) Cook of Blackfoot, and Rebekah Leigh Fanning of Blackfoot; brother Roger Brian (Kathy Wright) Fanning of Seattle, Washington; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Caleb Bryan Johnson, and a brother Albert Henry “Buddy” Fanning Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Pingree LDS Church, 1533 W. Hwy 39, under the direction of the Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow the service at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www. hawkerfuneralhome.com.
