Charles R. McCorkle, 88, formerly of Clinton Township, died Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Elmcroft of Saxonburg, where he has been living these past 6 years. He was born May 16, 1930 in Clinton Township to the late Frank M. and Cora I. (Shorts) McCorkle. Chuck grew up and lived in Cherry Valley most of his life.

He served his country in both the US Airforce and the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder for Railway Maintenance in Blawnox over 20 years then as a millwright for General Motors in Lordstown, OH for over 20 years. A member of the VFW in West Deer, the United Steel Workers Union when he worked for General Motors and served as President and a member of the Labor Union Local 3615 when he worked at Railway Maintenance and also served as Union President.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his children Charles D. (Terry) McCorkle of Clinton Township and Kimberly A. (John Marta) McCorkle of Penn Township grandchildren Rebecca, Amber, Colton, Courtney and Cristopher, great-grandchildren Blake, Madika, McKenna, Andrew and Barrett, his sister Eileen (Richard) Cheman of Russellton and Jessie Coulter of Calif. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Berdie M. (Storey) McCorkle, his brothers Carl “Sam”, James Walter and RobertMcCorkle and Harold Shorts and his sister Margaretta McDowell.

Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer, where services will be conducted Saturday at 10 am with Pastor Brian Swan officiating.
