Charles Richard Smith, 86, of Wooster, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at Wooster Community Hospital. No services will be held. Inurnment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Charles was born September 4, 1931 in Cuyahoga Falls to Will Y. and Blanche {Richards} Smith. He attended Smithville High School class of 1949. Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He married Evelyn Nolletti on July 29, 1950. Charles worked for Bogner Construction and later retired from Rubbermaid Inc. after 23 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception.

Charles coached baseball for many years. He was a member of the FCRV Camping Club. Charles enjoyed watching sports, listening to and playing country music for the nursing homes in the Wooster area.

Charles will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years; children Ronald K. (Deb) Smith and Denise (Chris) Brown both of Wooster; grandchildren Morgan (Chad) Stryker, Brittany (Jarrett) Ault, Michelle (Josh) Helms; great-grandchildren Alaina and Caroline Ault, Ryland Stryker; sisters Marge Naftzger of Ocala, FL and Mary May Young of Carrollton. Charles was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Smith.
