Charles’ Obituary Charles (Chuck) Fullerton was born in Steele, Missouri on October 7, 1945. He lived in Arcadia 47 years and it was here that he met the love of his life and wife of 46 years, Jean DeLaney Fullerton. Together, they raised one son, Ryan and he and his wife, Allison, gave them two grandchildren, Lane and Lilly.

Chuck built a life for his family in Arcadia. He loved his home, his country and his family with passion. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, he served our nation in the United States Army and was a member of both the Elks and Moose Lodges.

He was many things to many people; a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, a businessman, and a veteran to name a few but one of the titles that gave him the most joy was coach. For many years, Coach Fullerton was dedicated to the youth of DeSoto County. He was known as a tough coach with a soft heart.

His approach to coaching was much like his approach to life. He had unwavering expectations for his players and although his expectations were high, he balanced those high standards and tough discipline with a huge smile, a warm heart, an incomparable sense of humor and an immense love of the game. It’s hard to say what Chuck enjoyed more; coaching Ryan or watching Ryan coach Lane.

One of his favorite things to do later in life was to show up to Lane and Lilly’s practices and advise the coaches as to what they could be doing better. No one was off limits and if Lane and Lilly didn’t have practice that day, he was likely to show up to one of their friend’s practices and do the same thing. Among the family’s friends, a drop in at practice from “Papa Fully” was a treasure as was his advice.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Neal and Verna (Hurley) Fullerton, his brother James and sisters Marie (Johnson) and Gladys (Croy). He is survived by his brother Roy, his wife Jean (Delaney) Fullerton, their son Ryan, daughter-in-law Allison, grandchildren Lane and Lilly and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck was a loving husband and father, he was a loyal friend and respected member of this community.

His laugh, his smile, and his stories will be missed but his legacy lives and will continue to thrive in all of those that knew him. Services are currently pending and have been entrusted to Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. Online condolences may be made at www.
