Obituary for Cheryl Thornton (Engle) Cheryl Thornton, 61, of Pleasant Hill, MO passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 3pm at the chapel.

Cheryl was born on July 23, 1957 in Kansas City, MO to E.J. and Betty (Roe) Engle. She graduated from Raytown High School then worked for Wilbert Vault Company for 25 years. Cheryl later worked for Midwest Environmental Systems.

She really enjoyed gardening, coloring, and trips to Lake of the Ozarks. Most of all she loved family backyard BBQ’s. She was proud to be a Missouri Notary but her most proud accomplishments were daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Cheryl will be remembered by her husband of 30 years, Jim Thornton; father E.J. Engle; daughter Sarah Grantham and husband Robert; son Kyle Rustenhaven; daughter Chelsea McMillin and husband Lawrence; daughter Jayme Thornton and fiancé Brandon Jasso; sister-in-law Judy Engle; nephew Jeff Engle; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild on the way; and special friends Patti Cress, and Al and Jima Borja. She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Engle and her brother John Engle. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
