Obituary for Chester (Chet) J. Geno Beloved father and grandfather passed away Friday, September 14, 2018. Age 94 years. The son of the late Margaret Rose (Blumke) Geno and step-son of William Janetsky, Chet was born May 14, 1924 in Carrollton, Michigan.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 14th Armored Division and was a member of V.F.W. Post #1859. Chet married Marie O. Gonder on April 24, 1946. She predeceased him April 14, 2017.

He was employed at Grey Iron Foundry for 35 years until his retirement April 1, 1981. Chet was a member of St. John Paul II Parish where he served as an usher, altar server and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #4232 where he served as past Grand Knight as well as a member of Bishop Woznicki Assembly #0494 where he served as past Faithful Navigator.

Chet enjoyed golfing, his farm and loved spending time with his family. Surviving are one daughter, one son and their spouses, Ann Marie and James Kwaiser, Mercer, Pennsylvania; Mark J. and Karen Geno, Clarkston; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Livorse, Zelienople, Pennsylvania; Julieanne Kwaiser-(Kevin) Miller, Canfield, Ohio; Matthew M. (Christine) Geno, Tracy, California; Kristina Geno, Lakewood, Colorado; Chet’s brothers and sister, Timothy and Rosalind Janetsky, Saginaw; Ted Geno, Muskegon; Mary and Rod Rorem, Muskegon; many nieces and nephews. Chet was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and Bernie Janetsky.

Chet’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Independence Village in Frankenmuth and Michigan Premier Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at St. John Paul II Parish-St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Road in Saginaw. Rev.

Fr. James Bessert will officiate. Interment will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post #1859.

Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A Vigil Service, led by Karen Geno, will take place 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
