Obituary for Chester Franklin Shuey Chester Franklin Shuey, 101, of Hershey, and formerly of Hummelstown and Sun City Center, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Country Meadows of Hershey. Born in Hummelstown on September 19, 1917, he was the son of Chester M. and Anna E. Balsbaugh Shuey. Franklin retired as an Executive and Sales Representative from International Harvester.

He was a 1935 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School where he served as Class President for all four high school years; and graduated from Central Penn Business College. Franklin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown; and was charter member of The Sun City United Methodist Church. He was an U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.

Franklin was an avid golfer. Always a gentleman, Franklin was a caring and generous man. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith McNamee Shuey, on May 8, 2005, and a sister, Marian S. Johnson, on June 9, 1991.

Franklin is survived by one sister, Esther S. Eckenroth of Hummelstown; three nieces, Kathy Eckenroth, and Janis Troutman wife of Jim both of Hummelstown, and Patricia Moyer of Micco, FL; three nephews, Douglas Johnson husband of Penny, and Robert Johnson husband of Cara, both of Hummelstown, and Herbert Johnson husband of Carson of Falls, MS; a cousin, Donald Gingrich of Hershey; and a dear friend, Judy Schully of Hershey. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 11 AM in Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Robert J. Kazinski officiating.

Inurnment with military honors will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036, or to the Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
