Christopher Scott Sprague, 63, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 09, 2018, at his home in Randolph, Maine. He was born in Houlton, Maine, the son of Richard W Sprague and Marilyn Hoyt Sprague. He was educated in Houlton Schools, and graduated from Freeport High School, class of 1974.

He attended the University of Maine, Farmington. Chris (Topper) loved to ski at Sugarloaf. A real ski bum, he played the guitar and sang the songs of the day.

He was also a “foodie” before the term gained popularity. He loved to bake and all the members of his family looked forward to his cheesecakes during the holidays. For the last 33 years Topper was an automobile salesman.

He loved his work and the people he met. At the time of his death, he worked for Shepherd Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, in Rockland. In addition to his work, Topper loved spending time at his camp on B Stream near Houlton.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Sprague Ziska Sellner and her husband Ron; his longtime companion, Darleen Ward Young, Randolph; his mother, Marilyn Sprague Chase, and his stepfather, Philip S Chase, Presque Isle; a brother and sister-in-law, Jonathan and Suzanne Sprague, Boca Raton, Fl; two sisters, Susan Sprague Page Schwarz, Philadelphia, PA and Pastor Robin K Sprague, Bangor; and two nephews, Will and Neil Schwarz. He was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Richard W. Sprague and Ann Akers Sprague, Bangor and Islesboro. Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 14th at 11am at the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church in Gardiner.
