Obituary for Cindy I. Shafer Cindy Shafer, 44, of Kearney, lost her battle with cancer on June 3, 2018 at The Monarch in Lincoln. Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., June 11, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna with Father Richard Piontkowski Officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., June 10, 2018 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later. Cindy was born August 30, 1973 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Don and Gloria (Novotne) Stittle.

She was raised on a farm south of Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School, and then earned an associate’s Degree in accounting from Central Community College in Hastings. Cindy married Greg Shafer in Las Vegas on December 7, 1996, and they later divorced. While living in Kearney, Cindy had worked at Contemporary Obstetrics & Gynecology, Viaero Event Center, University of Nebraska Kearney Finance Department, and Parker Manufacturing in the accounting department.

Cindy enjoyed attending her kids’ activities and taking pictures, and spending time with her family. Cindy was always up for anything and loved to have a good time. She would do anything for her family and friends.

Cindy will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and love for life. Cindy is survived by her sons, Bo, Hunter, and Blade Shafer of Kearney; mother, Gloria Stittle and her friend Charlie Ackley of Ravenna; father, Don Stittle and his wife Toni of Ravenna; sisters, Shirley Stander and her husband Victor of Lincoln, Kim Reese and her husband Ronnie of Pleasanton, Connie Eckel and her husband Lenny of Pleasanton, Brenda Jerabek and her husband Joe of Ashton, Wendy Stanton and her husband Allen of Buffalo, TX; brother, Tom Stittle of Gibbon; grandmother, Arlone Novotne of Gibbon; fiancée Jerry Brockman of Sargent; many nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by 1 niece, 1 nephew, paternal grandparents, and her maternal grandfather.
