Obituary for George W. Giesler George W. Giesler, 74, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his residence in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Paul Colling will celebrate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and also 1 hour prior to services on Monday at the church. hlmkfuneral.com to leave a message of condolence. George was born on April 23, 1944 in Sioux City, IA to George W. and Lucille J. (Smith) Giesler. His family moved to Kearney prior to his 1st birthday.

He attended school in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1962. He then attended Kearney State College and later began a career in grocery and retail sales; first at Shakey’s Pizza and then at Bob’s Kwik Shop. He married Linda Slaughter on June 12, 1971 in Kearney.

George was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and also the Kearney Elks Lodge #984. He enjoyed a good western movie, Husker Football and especially spending time with his family. Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda of Kearney; children and their spouses, Michael (Bessie) Giesler of Cabot, AR, Michelle (Erich) Lewis of Kearney, NE, Melissa (Chad) Henning of Kearney, NE, Matt (Stacie) Giesler of Lincoln, NE and Mark (Jacqui) Giesler of Lincoln, NE; 9 grandchildren, Brennen, Brayden, Brock, Makenna, Cecilia, Bailey, Devyn, Deryk and Shaylee; brother, William Giesler of California; also numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
