Obituary for Katherine R. Hansen Katherine Hansen, 82 Kearney resident Katherine Hansen, 82, of Kearney, formerly of Ogallala, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Brookdale Kearney Northridge. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Friday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. The Rev.

John Long will officiate. Inurnment will take place 11:00 am Saturday at the Stanton Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Taylor officiating.

A lunch will follow at the Stanton VFW. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Public Library or the Perkins County Historical Society. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Katherine was born April 19, 1936 in Tilden, NE to Herman and Patty (Plagge) VanDieken.

She attended school in Meadow Grove and Stanton and was a 1953 graduate of Stanton High School. On September 14, 1954, Katherine was united in marriage to Norman Hansen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton, NE. Katherine was employed as a cook at Stanton Public schools and Farm Bureau.

She worked at Grant Floral with her daughter Brenda from 1984 – 1993. She later worked at Alco until her retirement in 2013 after 20 years of employment. Katherine move to Kearney in May of 2017.

She enjoyed playing cards and calling BINGO. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and traveling. Katherine cherished the time spent with her daughters Brenda and Fauneil, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Brenda (Randy) Styskal of Grant, Fauneil (Jim) Meier of Elm Creek; 3 grandsons, Joshua (Stephanie) Meier, Todd (Candice) Meier and Scott (Jody) Meier; great grandchildren, Ryan, Alexander, Miley, Maizy, Kyler, Jayden, Madelyn and Grayson; sister Glendoris Cole of Hastings, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Hansen; daughter Lisa K. Hansen; brother Ted (Rita) VanDieken and brother-in-law Charles Cole.
