Obituary for Robert M. Peterson Robert M. Peterson, 98 Kearney resident Robert M. Peterson, 98, of Kearney died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at the Kearney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating.

The service will also be live streamed at www. kearneyfirstumc.org/ Interment will follow at the Kearney Cemetery with Military honors provided by the American Legion Post #52, VFW Post #759 in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Kearney First United Methodist Church Choir. Condolences may be shared online at www. osrfh.com.

Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Robert was born November 22, 1919 in Kearney, Nebraska to William and Evelyn (Hyatt) Peterson. He was raised in Kearney and was a graduate of Kearney High School.

Bob entered the United States Army in March of 1942 and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Bob went on to earn his Bachelor of Education degree in 1951. On March 12, 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Grace Jeannine Doris Larsen in Grand Island, NE.

He was employed by Kearney State College as a custodian for 27 years before retiring in 1989. Bob was a longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the 1733 Barbershop Chorus, the Kearney First United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars # 759. Left to cherish his memory are his children Doris (Gary) Geist of Kearney, Dale Peterson of Kearney, Nathan (Joni) Peterson of Lincoln, Robert E. Peterson of Lincoln; grandchildren Gary Geist Jr., Greg (Tammy) Geist, Sheila (Brad) Luff, Laura Geist, Serana (Grant) Sparks, Carrie Blanchard, Vanessa Peterson; 6 great grandchildren; sister Ramona Dobberstein of Kearney; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
