Obituary of Clarence Canfield Clarence Ernest Canfield, age 90, beloved husband of the late Esther Kuziak Canfield, died peacefully on October 30, 2018 at the River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury, surrounded by his family. Born in Easton on March 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Ernest and Alma Wells Canfield. He grew up in Easton and later moved to Ansonia once he and his wife were married in 1950.

Mr. Canfield was a U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 200 of Rocky Hill. He worked as a sales manager for the Seaview Auto Supply Co. of Bridgeport for 20 years. He then established his own business in Shelton, C.E. Canfield Co., selling and servicing power equipment and kerosene heaters for 16 years.

Although he retired in 1992, he was a co-owner and salesman for the Huntington Power Equipment Co. until 2007. He was a genuine “people person” and was seldom, if ever, not sporting a huge smile to share with the many people he encountered throughout his life. Mr. Canfield was an active member of the Valley Heart Club and a devoted volunteer of Griffin Hospital for decades, which offered him the opportunity to provide gentle support to others and share the warm, compassion he was always so willingly ready to share.

Clarence enjoyed fishing, golfing, and woodworking and made beautiful furniture for his home. Along with his wife, he enjoyed taking road trips and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. He is survived by brother, Leon (Marie) Canfield of Sandy Hook, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, William Canfield. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, November 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts.

Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave.
