Clarice Marie Garner April 09, 1927 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Mrs. Clarice M. Garner, age 91 of Natchitoches, passed away February 14, 2019. Mrs. Garner was a cafeteria manager at Atlanta High School before moving to Shreveport in 1977 where she became house mother at NSU school of Nursing. She retired in 1997 and resided in Natchitoches until her death.

She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. She loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet, paint, and play cards. Her biscuits and dumplings were renown.

She loved to do those things but her first love was God and family. She loved unconditonally without bounds. To know her was to love her.

Mrs. Garner was the daughter of the late Roy Alvin Thames and the late Ruth Marie Jeter. She was also preceded in death by her husband J. E. Garner, son Roger Del Garner, grandson Cody John Garner, as well as a sister Sue Thames. She leaves to cherish her memory her children John Garner (Fran) of Bossier City, La, Jennifer Gallien (Derryl) of Natchitoches, grandchildren Lisa O’Donnell, Chad James, Jesse James, Lauren Boudreaux, four great grandchildren and two great great grand.

She is also survived by her brother William Cedric “Buck” Thames (Sandra) of Houston, Tx. , sister Doris Lear of Shreveport, La, and sister Nelda Terry (Bob) of Dequincy, La. Funeral services for Mrs. Garner will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Mt.

Zion United Methodist Church with Reverend Chad James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family in the Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Micah Boudreaux, Sherwin Brosette, Scott Davis, Bruce Thames, Scott Terry, and Paul Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Bandy, Johnnie Garner and Bob Terry.
