William E. “Pete” Anderson July 26, 1948 – January 30, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Our sweet dad, husband, pop, brother, and friend, William Eugene “Pete” Anderson, 71, passed away peacefully on January 30 at LSU Health. Pete was born on July 26, 1948 in Winnfield, LA, to a loving, God-fearing family, as the fifth of five children to Elmo and Myrtle Alice Anderson. Pete graduated from Calvin High School in 1966 and married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Anderson, shortly after.

This would begin a love affair that lasted 51 sweet years. After graduation he proudly served his country, while at the same time providing his family with memories and life experiences they wouldn’t have otherwise had. Along with his deep love for his family, Pete’s greatest treasure was his relationship with his savior, Jesus Christ.

His life and eternity were forever changed in knowing the goodness of the Lord. That love manifested itself in years of pastoring numerous churches and spreading the good news of Jesus. Pete was kind, loving, generous, soft-spoken, patient, and humble.

His quick wit and corny jokes were unmatched, and he loved to make people smile. He is dearly missed by all that know and love him, but we rejoice in knowing that his ultimate yearning was satisfied when he entered Heaven’s gates. Pete was preceded in death by his parents Elmo and Mrytle Anderson, his son, William Scott “Scotty” Anderson, and his daughter Sherry Lynn Anderson Collins, who were waiting to greet him in heaven.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Anderson; his daughter Christie McCandless and her husband Brad; his son-in-law, Doug Collins; his grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Rachel Procell and her husband Brandon, and Julia Collins; his great-grandson, Scott Haire; his brothers and sisters, Phillip Anderson, Jerry Anderson, Minnie Martin, and Beverly Roberson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Those honored to be pallbearers are Michael Anderson, Brad McCandless, Brandon Procell, Doug Collins, Todd Martin, and Cade Roberson. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Anderson, Jerry Anderson, and Phillip Anderson.

Visitation will be at Calvin Baptist Church, where Pete was a member, on Saturday, February 2, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, immediately followed by the funeral. Bro. Lamar Carpenter and Bro.

Billy Verhoef will officiate the service. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
