Goldie Faye Wise Shows November 15, 1941 – March 10, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card With profound sadness we announce the passing of Goldie Faye Wise Shows, our loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed through Heaven’s gates on March 9, 2019. On this same day she spent doing exactly what she loved-a fish fry with plenty of friends and family to love on her.

Mrs. Shows was reunited with loved ones in Heaven including her parents Tom Wise and Ona Simons Wise, her husband James Ernest Shows, and her son James Dalton Shows. From Heaven she will be watching her sons, Michael Shows and Darren Shows, her daughters Fae S. Sanders, Sandra S. Jones, Tonya S. Fletcher, and Nancy S. Hyde, brothers Gerald Wise, Charles Wise, Barney Wise, and J. P. Wise, sisters Betty Joe Deen and Geraldine Jowers, eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Maw maw, as her grandchildren called her, lived a simple life in Atlanta, Louisiana where she worked hard to care for her family.

She was used to growing, picking, and canning food so that her family would have healthy meals all year long. She was accustomed to keeping many, many children at one time. She disciplined them all with love, and a peachtree switch, often.

She will also be remembered for how beautiful her hands were before she became sick. She used those beautiful hands to hold, love, and pet on us all. She also used those hands to kneed homemade biscuits and cakes from scratch.

Her kitchen was always full of love and hungry stomachs. She celebrated every accomplishment with all of her kids and grandkids, They never had any doubt that she was very proud of them. She once stated that she wished she could continue to add on to her house until she had space for all of her family, all 54 of us living under one roof.

Please join us in celebrating her life 11:00 a.m.Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Mars Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Tony Dick, Craig James, and Ken Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 12, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time services.

Pallbearers will be John Wise, Justin Wise, Joshua Wise, Johnny Jones, Josiah Jones, Shawn Patrick Staggs, Shawn Shows, Lucas Dunn, and Eason Page as an honorary pallbearer.
