Constance Lorraine Sly, age 91 of Grand Haven, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at a local care facility surrounded by family. She was born on July 10, 1927 to Hio and Ethel (Barthel) Donselar in Grand Haven. Connie graduated from Grand Haven High School and then married Cecil Sly on September 5, 1947 in Grand Haven.

Cecil preceded her in death on January 15, 2011. She had been employed with Downtown Discount and Kirk’s Camera Shop. She did a lot of photo coloring before the advent of color photography.

Connie also enjoyed needle working, traveling with Cecil overseas to China, Russia and Europe, and attending many Square and Round dancing conventions over the years. She also liked to go to the casinos with her sisters and enjoyed spending time at home with her pets. Connie is survived by her daughter, Christine (Donald) Procknow of Friday Harbor, WA; son, Clifford Sly of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Jessica and Marcie; great-grandchildren, Brady, Kyle, and Chayse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters; Helen Martin, Patsy Stille, and Evelyn VanderVeen; and four brothers, Bill, Leslie, Charles, and Aldine Donselar. A private family graveside service will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Humane Society.
