Obituary for Connie M. McKinzie PRATT – Connie Mae McKinzie died Wednesday, November 28th at Pratt Rehab & Residence Center in Pratt, KS. She was born in Pratt, KS on July 26, 1943 to Charles William McKinzie and Edna Mae (Dill) McKinzie Parr. In October of 1959 she married Larry Schmidt.

They later divorced, but remained lifetime friends. Connie attended Saratoga and Pratt schools and graduated from Pratt. She worked for Aztec Bail Bonds in Pratt as the bail bondsman for 30 years.

She was a church leader at Open Door Ministry in Pratt. She loved her family and was an avid Denver Bronco fan, Nascar fan, as well as a Gaither Vocal Band fan. She is survived by 2 daughters, Deb Taylor of Kansas City, KS, Sharon Schmidt of Pratt, 2 sons, Darren (Sarah) Schmidt of Stafford, Kelly Schmidt of Goddard,15 grandchildren, Seth (Jenny) Taylor, Andrew (Stephanie) Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Amanda (Jeremy) King, Tanner Magee, Heather Beemer, Sabrina Johns, Britney (Maverick) Petz, Bo Schmidt, Nick Pence, Trevor Claar, Cody Claar, Jake Foster, Anthony Pence, Chris Pence, numerous great grandchildren, a brother, Joe McKinzie of Ft.

Worth, TX, a brother-in-law, Chuck Williams of Parker, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Cory Schmidt and Brandon Phelps, a sister Barbara Williams, 5 brothers, A.M., Owen, Gerald, Bobby, and Larry McKinzie. Family has honored her wish for organ and body donation for medical research.

A Memorial Service will be Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Open Door Ministry Church at 109 E. 3rd St., Pratt, KS, 67124 with Pastor Sharon Schmidt presiding. Memorials may be made to Open Door Ministry in care of the church.
