Obituary for Albert A. Alingh Albert A. Alingh, 83, departed on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his home in Emporia. He was born on September 8, 1935 in Cherokee, Iowa, to Albert and Laverne Alingh. Al joined First National Bank in Pratt as Marketing Director in 1984 where he was responsible for new advertising and many public relation concepts.

In 2004, when he retired from the bank he was presented with a book signed by Dolly Parton and a letter from the Dollywood Foundation, Inc. for his nationwide contribution to the Imagination Library book program. He served as a City Commissioner for the City of Pratt for nine years and mayor for one year. He also served two terms as a Silver Haired Legislator State Representative for Pratt County.

He and his wife owned and operated a Pratt business named “Alingh’s Crafts” for ten years. The business featured variety store items, crafts and models. He is survived by his son, Mike (Pat) Alingh; daughter Candace Hamm; grandchildren Allison Alingh, Ashlyn Alingh, Matthew (Jamie) Hamm, Jacob (Kimber) Hamm, Emily (Josh) Schmidt, Jessie (Will) Symmonds, and Danyel Alingh; great grandchildren Landon Hamm, Hayden Hamm, Ava Hamm, Olivia Hamm, Harrison Hamm, Hudson Hamm, Isaiah Schmidt, Evelyn Schmidt, Warren Schmidt, Amy Alingh, Taylor Alingh, Codie Dunn, Brittnie Dunn, David Holman, JR.

, Hunter Symmonds and Maddie Symmonds; brother Jerry (Vicky) Alingh; nephew Steve (Janet) Alingh; niece Cathy (Ken) Dohrmann; great nephew Nicholas Alingh; and two great great granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; daughter Kim Alingh and son in-law Alan Hamm. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd, Pratt, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Memorials may be made to the Dolly Parton Imagination Celebration Library in care of Larrison Mortuary.
