Obituary for Betty A. Mohney Wichita – Betty A. Mohney, 97, passed away November 6, 2018. She was born in Tyndall, South Dakota on February 22, 1921 to Mary and Cyrus Goodness. Betty moved with her family to Kansas in 1933, where she graduated from Pratt High School, Pratt Community College, and then went on to graduate from Phillips University in 1944.

She married the love of her life, Leonard W. Mohney, in 1944; he developed a veterinary practice in Pratt and Betty was a homemaker, church and community leader. Betty served in many capacities at the First Christian Church of Pratt and on the state and national level as well as President of the International Christian Women’s Fellowship for four years. Her community service included membership on the City Planning Commission and a term as President of the Kansas State Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary.

Indeed, Betty was a force, but she always said her, “ greatest accomplishment was to have raised, with my husband, three children who are well adjusted Christian adults”. She took great pride in her family, and her home was full of pictures of every member. Betty’s hobbies included quilting, boating and entertaining her friends and especially family.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband and by her brothers, Charles Goodness and James Goodness. She is survived by children: Carolyn (Gene) Blackwelder, Richard (Barbara) Mohney, Priscilla (Myron) Zeller, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm.

at the First Christian Church, Pratt, KS. followed by a reception and time to meet with family. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Church Disciples Home Mission in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd. , Pratt, KS. 67124.
